Estate, Money and Retirement Planning – Part 2-

Wealthy people have boring financial lives but, have “exciting personal lives”. Which would you prefer?????? Less fortunate people are constantly struggling with bills, or worried about their current money situation and plans, while their personal lives are on hold waiting for financial success. Therefore, what’s the challenge?? There are so many needs for your money. How do you divide your limited income to do everything at the same time? AND Financial products have evolved into complex financial tools each with strengths and weaknesses. There are so many the question arises, “What is right for you and your family”? Now that the introduction has been completed we can move on to more important things.

I wrote the following years ago and after re-reading my words I feel this next write up could be viewed as a little harsh. It was written with “waking up” folks – folks who have the sense that “nothing will happen to me syndrome.” When we discuss Estate, Money and Retirement Planning it’s just that, a “PLAN” Let’s discuss briefly preparing a financial plan – as mentioned, its just that, “A PLAN”. A plan, a thought out strategy, thinking ahead ++++++++ a system, processes+++++++choose the right words that make sense to you +++++ to manage YOUR MONEY and retirement plans. Money and Insurances can be very complicated and few planners have received ANY training on the subject. This is NOT a good combination! Learning by trial and error leads to misconceptions, which often result in disappointments, and because your money and retirement plans are extremely important to you, when something goes wrong, it leads to hard feelings, bitter disappointment, FEAR+++++ and a desire to pass the blame. The TRUTH of the matter is that “nobody has more control over your money and retirement plans than you do – there’s no one else to blame for you INACTIONS of your goals – thus, it’s your fault for not doing proper planning. As soon as you accept this, you have a chance. The Law says, “Ignorance of the law is no excuse” – this also applies to you money and retirement plans. Did you know that 85% of Canadians with a net worth over $1,000.000 became millionaire’s by saving a little at a time. Anyone in Canada can be a millionaire, it just requires the continuous application of simple concepts and time. “Get rich quick” strategies can sound seductive and who isn’t intrigued by the notion. 85% of Canadian millionaires did it the way I am going to show you. It is not sexy, in fact it is kind of boring, but it “works for everyone”, every time. I sometimes use the analogy of driving on icy and wintery roads VS cruising down a highway on a sunny day. One you’re in constant fear and continuously correcting to avoid imminent disaster ++++++ very busy and not making much progress. The other, one finger on the steering wheel fighting boredom, and making great progress. In closing this session I just would like to add that I would prefer you move ahead looking through the front windshield and not the rear view mirror. To Be Cont’d

James has been in the business of assisting clients over the years to meet their own needs from a Financial Planning and Tax perspective for nearly 30 years.

Working under the toutalidge and mentorship of people like W. Clement Stone (The Success System That Never Fails) – I worked with Mr. Stone for 5 years as his Divisional Regional Manager for Saskatchewan, Zvonko Brykitch (my personal mentor for 5 years), Zig Ziglar (See You At The Top) – I met Mr. Ziglar in 1970 at a seminar, and Og Mandino (The Greatest Secret in The World) I was able to understand and implement a course of action within my business where the true meaning of customer service was first and foremost.

At Oglesby Financial I take my work to a “more personal” level where I believe that any business owner needs to understand the process in running their business. Running a business should be fun but people get so overwhelmed that things just get off track. It’s my job to keep them on the rails and in turn making them successful and profitable. One aspect I am always instructing people is that the “foundation” of their business is the dreaded bookkeeping and this is one of the major problems of business owner’s encounter.

I am from “the old school” where I whole heartily believe that face to face interaction is the way to go. With all the technology, social media and all the other forms of communicating society seems to have lost the true meaning of sales and building a true relationship with their clients.

Therefore, with all these years behind me I am concentrating on Personal and Corporate Tax, Business Plans, USA (Unanimous Shareholders Agreement), Estate & Succession Planning and all types of personal and corporate life and disability insurance along with CI (Critical Insurance).

I also do investment analysis for people who are interested in understanding mutual funds vs. segregated funds and where’s the best place to invest getting the higher rate of return.

In closing, I would just like to say that we should always be helping people for the right reasons – I take it very seriously to teach, train and educate all my clients.
This service needs to be administered with morals, values, ethics and above all integrity. Anything else is not good enough.
